"Nudge"

When I first started working on this piece in 2023, I was drawn to the feeling between these two horses. There was an overwhelming sense of safety and belonging in their pose that spoke to me.

As my life shifted over the next few years, I put the piece aside. I eventually picked it back up after a very abrupt change in my life, and somewhere in the process of working on it again, I began finding my own sense of support, belonging, and peace.

I completed Nudge during a season of deep depression. To have come out of that difficult time with not only a finished piece of art, but also an overwhelming awareness of the support and love that had been shown to me along the way, is something that still leaves me speechless.

Nudge has become a reminder to me of the importance of safe relationships - the people who continue to support us when we don’t believe in ourselves, and who give us a little help when we need it most.

I hope Nudge speaks to you in whatever way you need it to. But mostly, I hope it reminds you that you are important, you belong, and sometimes a little help - or a friendly nudge to keep going - can mean everything.

 

And to those who were that nudge for me: I can’t thank you enough.

 

ABOUT THE PRINT:

Nudge is an open-edition fine art reproduction of my original hand-drawn graphite portrait featuring two pale horses, one giving a delicate nudge to the other.

 

The original was created using Prismacolor graphite pencils on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Series 300 paper and intentionally features a built-in white border that works beautifully in both matted and unmatted frames.
